Travel Journals
Carrying a sketchbook everywhere I go is just something I love. It’s my absolute favorite hobby. When I sit down and flip through these drawings and paintings, I’m right back there. I can remember exactly where I was, how I felt, and all the ideas that were spinning through my head while I worked.
Honestly, most of my memories from traveling are kind of scattered. They blur together. But the stuff I actually sat down and drew? Those are the only memories that stay sharp and clear. They’re the only ones I really kept.
Sometimes, though, being out and about, especially when I’m traveling, is a lot. My social battery just dies. I'm in a place surrounded by people, and I feel the need to go totally alone. That’s when the sketchbook becomes a lifesaver. Drawing is my way of staying present while also checking out completely. It’s a magic trick, honestly. When people see you drawing, they respect the space. They leave you to your own world, and for a little while, I get to be inside my own head, focused on the paper, letting the rest of it fade into the background.
This is my Travel Journal. It is a collection of the moments I’ve taken the time to really see, and I am always looking forward to expanding it.
